Stacy Matkins

“Growing up in Southeast Texas, I always kept my eyes focused on brighter stars.  Through books, I knew there was a huge unknown world out there and I couldn’t wait to live the reality of what I imagined as I read.”

Stacy Matkins

From the time she was a child, Stacy loved to imagine and get lost in a story that would transport her to another time, dimension, or life.  She always wanted to know how and why and where those answers would lead.  Now, with her highly praised “That’s Me!” children’s series, she hopes to answer those questions for a new generation of young, inquisitive readers.

Having been blessed to travel extensively throughout the US and abroad, Stacy has always immersed herself in local culture wherever she’s landed.  From California to Maine, Ireland to New Zealand and lots in between, Stacy finds inspiration in the everyday life of everyday people.  It is the curiosity, inquisitiveness, and wonderment of those she encounters that spark her creativity.

Together with her husband Cliff, Stacy owns Lea Street Press, LLC, an indi publishing company.  She holds a BA in Criminal Justice from Lamar University and has lived numerous large cities and tiny towns across the US.  She and Cliff currently reside in North Carolina and divide their time between homes in Yanceyville and North Topsail Beach.  When not writing, traveling, volunteering, or spending time with family and friends, Stacy is busy reading the next book and imagining where tomorrow’s adventure will take her.
